การสำรวจชลชีววิทยาและทรัพยากรประมงในอ่างเก็บน้ำบางพระ จังหวัดชลบุรี หลังจากเก็บกักน้ำ ครบ24 ปี ในปี พ.ศ. 2542 ปรากฏผลดังต่อไปนี้

คุณสมบัติทางกายภาพความโปร่งแสงบริเวณหน้าเขื่อนและกลางอ่างเก็บน้ำค่อนข้างใสประมาณ 160–180 เซนติเมตร แต่บริเวณทางน้ำเข้าน้ำขุ่นประมาณ 20 เซนติเมตร อุณหภูมิน้ำ 26.0-36.0 ํ C ทางด้านเคมี pH 6.0-8.2 ปริมาณออกซิเจนละลาย 4.0-7.8 มิลลิกรัม/ลิตร ความเป็นด่าง 22-57 มิลลิกรัม/ลิตร และความกระด้าง 20-60 มิลลิกรัม/ลิตร แสดงว่าคุณสมบัติของน้ำยังมีความเหมาะสมต่อการดำรงชีพของสัตว์น้ำ

พบแพลงค์ตอนพืช 70 ชนิด แพลงค์ตอนสัตว์ 10 ชนิด มีปริมาณเฉลี่ย 0.062 ล้านตัว/ลูกบาศก์เมตร พบสัตว์หน้าดิน 13 ชนิด ปริมาณเฉลี่ย 1,121 ตัว/ตารางเมตร

ปริมาณประชากรปลาต่อเนื้อที่โดยวิธีอวนล้อมและกระแสไฟฟ้าเท่ากับ 3.86 กิโลกรัม/ไร่ อัตราส่วนระหว่างปลากินพืชต่อปลากินเนื้อ เท่ากับ 27.08 พบปลาทั้งสิ้น 15 ครอบครัว 25 ชนิด

อุปนิสัยการกินอาหาร พบปลากินเนื้อ 4 ชนิด คือ ปลาช่อน ปลาบู่ ปลากระสูบขีด ปลาดุกอุย กินกุ้ง แมลงน้ำ และตัวอ่อนแมลง ได้แก่ ปลาหมอไทย กินแพลงค์ตอน ตัวอ่อนแมลง ได้แก่ปลาสลิด ปลานิล กินพืช ได้แก่ปลาตะเพียนขาว

พบชาวประมงหาปลาเฉลี่ยวันละ 120 ราย มีรายได้เฉลี่ย วันละ 100 บาท เครื่องมือที่ใช้จับปลาส่วนใหญ่เป็นตาข่ายถึง 90 % นอกจากนี้เป็นเบ็ดราวและแห

Hydrobiological and fishery resource survey in Bangphra Reservoir,Chonburi Province was conducted in 1999 after twenty-four years of impoundment, The results are summarized as follows.

Secchi disc transparency at open water area ranged between 160-180 cm, water temparature 26.0-36.0 ^o C, pH 6-8.2 DO 4.0-7.8 mg/l; alkalinity 22-57 mg/l; and hardness 20-60 mg/l.

Planktonwere consisted of 70 and 10 species of phyto and zooplankton with total abudance of 0.062 million cell/m³ . A total of 13 species of benthic organisms were observed with a density of 1,121 ind./m² .Aquatic plants were consisted of 16 species.

Fish standing crop estimated by spot poisoning and electrofishing was observed at 3.86 kg/rai. The ratio between forage to carnivorous species (F/C) was 27.08. A total of 15 families including 25 species were found in this sampling period.

For stomach content analysis, there are 4 species considered as C. striatus, O marmoratus, C .macocephalus and A.testudinae are described as small shrimp feeder and insectivore. T.pectoralis and T. niloticaare described plankton and insectivore. P. gonionotus is classified as herbivorous.
